Hawk air defence system The American Hawk-weapon system (Hawk means Homing-All- the-Way-Killer) is developed as a anti-low altitude aircraft missile battery. Patriot air defence system The Patriot system is a good team mate of the Hawk system, the Hawk can kill anything at low altitude, so can the Patriot higher in the sky. It's maximum altitude is about 20 km. The launching pad can be attached to a hook of a heavy truck for movement (same for Hawk) and can be fully operated by a computer. Radar-jammers have no effect on the missile.
Stinger air defence system De Stinger can be used against aircraft at very low altitude and helicopters. It's a so called `Man Portable Air Defence' (MANPAD) weapon. This means that the Stinger-missile can be launched from the shoulder. The Stinger is used as self-defence weapon against guided weapon positions. De Stinger is a `Shoot and Forget' weapon. This means that after the launch no one controls the missile. The missile searches his target by it self with the help of a infrared guided radar with the range of approximately 10 KM. The Stinger-missile destroys itself when it misses his target. |
