The Stinger air defence system is developed in the early eighties in order of the U.S. Army. The Stinger can be used against aeroplanes at low altitude and helicopters. It's a so called 'Man Portable Air Defence' (MANPAD) weapon. This Means that the Stinger Rocket can be launched from the shoulder. The Stinger was used by many NATO members during the gulf war and proved it self a good air defence weapon. It's a "Shoot and Forget' weapon. This means that after the launch no one has control of the flight path except the rockets searching device. The rocket findes the target with a infrared-guided head. The Infrared light makes it very sensitive for heat difference's for up to 10 km. The Stinger auto-destructs when it has missed his target. It's Also a good replacement for the older type bazooka, so it can very well be used to blow up vehicles and well aimed also buildings.
